All expectant and first-time parents should avoid these five scary movies. Most of these were made in the '70s and early '80s, when movie makers seem to have a thing for making a connection between evil and children.

Did parents in the '70s really think of their kids as devil children? If these popular scary movies are any indication, they just may have. These are five of the scariest movies that pregnant women and expectant parents should avoid viewing.

The 5 Scariest Movies Pregnant Women Should Avoid Watching

Original Advertising Tagline: "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy..."

#5 Scariest Movie that Pregnant Women Should Avoid Watching: The Shining

This one was barely out of the 1970s, it was made in 1980. There is something so eerie about those two little ghost girls wandering the halls and saying strange words. No expectant mom wants to imagine her girls like this.

Add to that a husband who goes off the deep end....

This is one downright scary movie.

#4 Scariest Movie that Pregnant Women Should Avoid Watching: Carrie

Original Advertising Tagline: "If You've Got A Taste For Terror... Take Carrie To The Prom."

Talk about one messed up mom and daughter team. The mom in this movie is pretty scary, but not as scary as Carrie. She looks so innocent, maybe that's why it seem so creepy.

This is another film where the child is said to be aligned with the devil.

#3 Scariest Movie that Pregnant Women Should Avoid Watching: The Exorcist

em>Original Advertising Tagline: "The Devil Inside"

Who wants to see their child possesed by the devil and do evil, nasty and naughty things? To this day I have never watched the theatrical release of this film. I have only seen the edited, TV versions. But I still remember how shocked and horrified my older cousins were at the "crucifix" scene.

#2 Scariest Movie that Pregnant Women Should Avoid Watching: The Omen

Original Advertising Tagline: "Good morning. You are one day closer to the end of the world. You have been warned."

These movies portray un-holy children, who are evil, possessed, or the spawn of the devil. Scary stuff.

How about Larry Cohen's "It's Alice!" (Baby comes out and is upset. Kills everyone in the delivry room.)
