American Idol has done a good job of picking winners who went on to have great careers in the music business and even in Hollywood. But what about the people who did not win but are doing well in the talent industry anyway. In this article, we will visit a few former contestants to see how they are doing.

Season 1 American Idol Standout Contestant: Tamyra Gray

Since Tamyra was booted from Idol, she has been a very busy girl. While her singing career may have halted after being dropped by J Records and a later parting with a division of Simon Fullers 19 management, Ms. Gray has found her niche in Hollywood. Her list of accomplishments include a recurring role in the TV show Boston Public in 2003, What I like About You, and an independent film called The Gospel in 2005. She also co-wrote the hit song that won Fantasia Barrino Idol Fame in season three, "I Believe". Currently, Tamyra Gray is in the cast of RENT on Broadway and is preparing to release a second album.

Season 2 American Idol Standout: Kimberly Locke

Kimberly came in third after Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken in second season of American Idol. Since then, she has released several albums and is currently working on a Christmas Album. Kimberly Locke also works as a plus size model and has had five consecutive top 10 Adult Contemporary hits, including two #1 songs.

Season 3 American Idol Standout: Jennifer Hudson

It seemed that Jennifer had faded away into Idol history until the movie Dreamgirls was released in fall of 2006. Her performance in this musical film won her an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and two BET Awards, among others. Jennifer Hudson is set to appear in a 2008 movie, Winged Creatures, and the Sex and the City movie.

Season 4 American Idol Standout: Constantine Maroulis

An "American Idol," just like a "big CEO," is simply a spot on the grid at which one's desire chooses to pause and proliferate whatever profits can there be found.

It's good to see some of the AI stars are finding success post-AI.
