Turn Your Furniture into Artwork
Some people have never heard of what is known as a Raised Plaster Stencil. These stencils are wonderful and will give your furniture a raised appearance. You will actually place the stencil over your furniture and use mud from plastering to
fill in the gaps. It will give your furniture a marble look and it will be very decorative and a new way to decorate and turn your old furniture into an expensive looking masterpiece.
I've been thinking of doing this to our bedroom furniture just because I want more of a marble look. By purchasing these Raised Plaster Stencils and choose the right color combinations you would be amazed as to what your furniture will look like. With the Plaster Stencils you will need to purchase at least two different types of paints to give the furniture a raised look. You can also purchase more than two colors and blend some of the colors together to produce more color. Make sure that the colors aren't very bright or it won't look as good as it would if you used darker colors which are closer together in appearance.
You can purchase a deep purple or blue color and use a dark grey or dark green color to accent the blue and purple tone. You can also purchase lighter variations of the main colors that you want to use. You can use any color as long as the second color is close to the appearance of the first color. It's hard to see how it will turn out on your furniture but if it's furniture that you don't like, anything will be an improvement. I would suggest getting a piece of junk furniture to see which color combinations will look the best on your furniture.
The stencil will create a pattern which you will use to fill in the gaps with mud that you use when you plaster. If you want to produce more of a rough appearance or ragged appearance you can do this after you apply the mud to the stencil areas. You will use a putty knife to apply the mud and then you can use this knife to make the mud look rough. Simply place the knife on top of the mud and pull up slowly to give the mud a rough looking appearance. You will need to do this to your furniture in different areas.
