The Lake Park Fall Festival is something that anyone within driving distance should visit. Lake Park is located in Union County North Carolina near Charlotte and is a wonderful place to live.

The Lake Park Fall Festival is always sometime in October (unless the weather reschedules it). This year it is October 20th. It will start at Ten AM and end at Six PM.

There are always lots of things for children and families to do during the festival. Activities that have been at the festival in the past are horse drawn wagon rides for people of all ages, carnival arcade games, bounce houses, bounce optical courses, crafts to create, crafts to buy, food, petting zoos, music, dancing, face painting, a slide, a fire truck, contests, prizes, and pumpkin painting.

This does not mean that everything I mentioned above would be at every fall festival, but usually most everything is. When the kids play the carnival games they can win tickets that can be exchanged for prizes at the prize booth. Contests are usually in the form of pie eating or a ticket drawing. Music comes from a DJ in the middle of the gazebo or bands that come to play. This year I know that a choir from the elementary school will be singing as well and there should be live music throughout the day.

Of course nothing is for free and the Lake Park Fall Festival is no different. All the games and rides (bounce houses, wagon, etc.) cost tickets. You used to have two options for paying for the activities. You could purchase tickets at the ticket booth at the festival or purchase an 'all day' wrist band at either the ticket booth or earlier at a local business. Last year they changed it. There were no longer individual tickets sold...only the 'all day' wrist bands. This year you cannot buy the wrist bands early, but I was told that they are cheaper than they were last year. Even cheaper than the early wrist band.

Also, one tip. It has been unusually hot for October this year, so even though they sell water at the festival, I would bring an extra one. Getting dehydrated is not the way to start a weekend.
