I've been a self-professed fan of Apple for years. I love the silly little commercials where one guy pretended to be a slow bogged down PC. The other young peppy guy is the personification of a Mac. The PC guy always has something wrong with him. The Mac guy, well he just stands there and feels bad for the PC. Funny commercials, but it never made my buy a Mac. Ok, so I used the secret, literally and like the little boy with the bike was blessed one day with my first MacBook. I now have a passion to tell the world of the great Mac virtues.

Now that I have a Mac what is different from a PC

Well first and foremost, I'm using apple software. I have the option to used windows software. Excel, PowerPoint, word, and others are all on my Mac. I do use windows software when networking with those whom have windows programs. However, the MacBook's Iwork 08 software is far superior to good old windows.

In fact, the software can read windows document also. If others give you a window document, you can open any of them in you on your Mac in Iwork 08 software comparable software.

One drawback is that you cannot save the ".doc" documents as ".doc" documents again. Once you open the "doc" in Apples "Pages", it is now a ".Pages" document. As and MBA student that had to upload a ".doc" or ".rtf" file, this issue presented a bit of a challenge. I'm still looking for a solution to that issue. Again, if you do not need to produce a document that is ".doc", you will be fine with reading and saving your ".Pages" file.

How do Mac differ with Graphics & Website Publishing?

When it comes to website publishing, I'm very old school (circa early 2000's). I like to get behind the scenes and edit my html code before publishing. I use notepad or textpad to edit my code. I would view it then publish it on a live server. For months looked for a version of WSFTP to upload and edit my pages. I could not find a version of the program that worked with my Mac.

Takeaways
  • MacBooks can read Windows software
  • MacBooks are easier to Use
  • MacBook are fantastic with Desktop publishing

So many great features here. I've never been a Mac user, but my father gave me a demo of how his works and I was very impressed.
