If you are like many parents, you dread back to school shopping. It's time consuming and expensive. But, with a few helpful tips, you will be on your way to sending your kids back to school in style while saving money!

Take a look at your newspaper. On Sundays, they usually have circulars with your local stores and their current sales. Through out the summer, stock up on different things. Maybe one week you find a great deal on shirts. A few weeks later you might find jeans on sale. This is where stocking up can save you time and money.

Here's a great tip. Try to buy items that you can mix and match. For instance, buy similar colors and patterns so you can coordinate different shirts with jeans, khakis, skirts, etc. The more things you can buy that coordinate, the more outfits you get.

Try shopping your favorite store online. Many popular chains have web sites where you can shop from the comfort of your home or office. Always check the sites for sales or clearance items. You can save even more by using online "coupons". These are usually referred to as coupon codes. You can go to http://refundcents.com/IHDframecodes.htm to find a list of stores and coupon codes, or do a search of your own. You can also go to auction sites like ebay.com to search for deals. You can find new or even gently used clothes. Of course you wouldn't want to mention to the kids these are used, you know how they can be! If they ask, just tell them you took the tags off already.

Just take into consideration that if you shop online, you will have to pay shipping and handling charges. (Unless you find a store that has a free or discounted shipping promotion.) So, get out your calculator and see if the shipping fees you will incur are worth it even with the money saved on the items. You also need to factor in that if you drove from store to store, you would be wasting gas. And we all know how expensive gas has been. So, you need to decide for yourself whether you would rather have your things delivered and pay for shipping, or go regular shopping and pay for the gas. But, which ever you chose always keep your eye out for deals and sales. Happy Shopping!

Takeaways
  • Keep your eyes open for sales.
  • Stock up when you find a good deal.
