Jim Bonney is a very well-known name about town. As a professional actor he has over two decades of experience on stage, screen, and film. But it's his teaching technique that is more well known than anything; in the back of The Village Voice, Backstage, and hanging from poster boards and in subway terminals all over the city, there are advertisements for the Jim Bonney Actor Training at Bonney Studio. Now, Jim Bonney is taking his act back to the Drama Book Shop (250 W 40th St) for his "Emotional Preparation and Imagination Workshop," November 1st 2007 from 6-8PM.

In 1990 Mr. Bonney created the MeisnerPlus technique using his own emotional and body work coinciding with the Meisner Acting Technique. Mr. Bonney specializes in working "through acting problems" as well as helping his student conquer "emotional blocks." This is one of the things that more seasoned actors often have a problem maintaining and novice actors have trouble breaking through with.

Mr. Bonney has had many a Broadway, television, and film star in private sessions at his New York City. The Bonney MeisnerPlus technique is also taught in small classes and he's released a CD "Emotional Preparations for Actors: How to Get Into the Emotional Life of a Scene."

With all these credits you'd figure that people would just come running to his doorstep. However as any New Yorker will tell you there are literally thousands of influences coming at you from all directions at any moment. This is one of the great benefits to these smaller, one off sessions that come at free or very low cost. You get the opportunity to preview the program of the particular instructor without setting down a great amount of money.

The Jim Bonney Emotional Preparation and Imagination Workshop at the Drama Book Shop costs a very reasonable $15.00 and is taking reservations now at both the Jim Bonney and Drama Book Shop website. You can also call Jim Boney Acting Studio (212-713-5277) or the Drama Book Shop (212-944-0595) directly for the latest information.
