Controlling your PC just became a little simpler thanks to voice recognition software. In the past voice recognition technology was burdensome at best. Many of the products offered were very low on performance and high in errors, which made the software more trouble than it was worth. However, a leader in voice recognition software has come out with a version of their software which is likely to please just about everybody.

Nuance Communication Incorporated, the developer of Dragon Naturally Speaking, has released its best version to date. In this version it is clear that the innovator in voice recognition software has improved in leaps and bounds. In the newest version, the company states that the software is 99% accurate at recognizing speech. It is also being praised for its ability to type up to 165 words per minute in a word processor program. This gives the user the ability to speak in a natural manner and the software is able to keep up.

This is a terrific advantage when the user does a lot of writing, whether it is articles, a book, or simple business reports. Many people are not proficient in their typing skills and this would be a great advantage in a very competitive market. The other great feature of this software is the ability to control your computer by speech. Imagine that you no longer need to use your mouse or keyboard when using your computer and you can simply perform every task simply by speaking.

Included with the software is a specially designed microphone which ensures that the speech software works optimally. However, the software now has Bluetooth support which creates an even more effective and productive computer experience. There are currently four versions of the software available depending upon your needs. These versions include the "Standard," "Professional,""Legal," and "Medical" editions. Medical and Legal editions are geared more towards the recognition of medical and legal references recognition.

Interesting, I have been using Dragon for a number of years now and have just upgraded to Windows Vista. I am told that the newest version of Dragon does not work with Vista - is that true?

Lenora said it well: Dragon Naturally Speaking 9 is great software. The first time I saw speech recognition software was before I retired and a handicapped employee was provided speech recognition software.
