Five Cheap Halloween Outings in Findlay, Ohio

Fun for Young Kids, and One for Teens

Halloween is quickly approaching. If you are looking for a fun Halloween activity that won't cost the price of a Cedar Point ticket, here are a few happenings in the Findlay, Ohio area, listed by date:

1. On the afternoon of October 20, Camp Fire USA will sponsor a Non Scary Halloween House at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 1017 E. Sandusky Street. This event is for children ages preschool through fourth grade, and includes games, crafts, food, and a maze. Cost is $2 per child, which includes 10 game tickets. Additional game tickets can be purchased 10 for $1. There is no charge for accompanying adults.

2. The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation located at 11600 CR 99, is holding two activities, one geared towards preschool and grade school aged children, and one for teenagers and adults. Weekends through October 21, young kids can ride the train to the onsite pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin to be shipped back to the station. Cost is $1 per child, with an additional charge for each pumpkin.

3. Friday and Saturday nights until 11:00PM, through October 27, this same location is hosting a haunted train ride for teenagers and adults, with a walk through a haunted building. Cost for both activities is $5.00 per person. The Northwest Ohio Railroad Preservation does not recommend this activity for children under 13.

4. One of two events happening Saturday October 27 is a family night at the local YMCA, 300 E. Lincoln Street. From 7:00PM until 9:00PM families can enjoy hayrides, face painting, bobbing for apples, games and an open swim for just $3 per family. Cost for single youths or adults is $1 per person.

5. A second event from 7:00PM until 8:30PM on October 27 is the 10th Annual Enchanted Forest Walk at Riverbend Park, 16618 CR 208. Preregistered groups will leave from shelter house 3 every 15 minutes for a guided tour through the decorated park. Registration for a designated start time must be completed by October 24 and the cost is $3 per person. This event is recommended for ages 5 and older. Refreshments will be served around the campfire at the end of each tour.
