Let me preface this review by stating that I have absolutely no financial interest in any flashlight company. I'm too poor to even own any stocks, and none of my family works for any of them. I'm an impartial reviewer here. No one gave me a thing to write this in any way that slants towards any company that sells these products.

I live in the Denver area and started working as a process server a little over a year ago. For those not familiar, a process server is someone who serves legal process, or "due process of the law" which we have a constitutional right to in this country. Everyone has a right to be informed when legal action is being taken involving them in a court, though they don't always appreciate that finer historical aspect of it.

So essentially I serve civil court documents on people at their homes and businesses. Things like summons' for debt collection court dates, child support papers, things like that. I consider it honorable work, but it can be tricky, sometimes even dangerous.

It involves going out a lot at night, from 6 to 10, sometimes 11 PM, summer through winter, rain snow or shine. And of course about half the year it's dark after 6 PM, or shortly after, so I needed a flashlight to light my way in the dark, and to try to see address numbers on houses and apartment buildings while driving down the streets. That can be a royal pain. People don't leave the lights on for us, and some of those older street signs don't even show up in your car headlights in the dark. Some apartment buildings are practically unmarked and they don't always have lights around the address numbers.

I started out thinking that I needed the latest coolest LED flashlight, so I bought one that used three D cells and had ten high intensity LED's in it, the Lightwave 4000.

On the plus side, the batteries in that unit lasted a lot of hours.
