Being a huge horror and gore buff, coming up with five of the most scariest movies ever was a challenge for me, however I did finally put it together. Now keep on mind that these are my ultimate horror movies and that everyone has their own idea of being scared.

First and foremost one of the most terrifying movies of all time for me has to be Tobe Hooper's fantastic make of Stephen King's novel "Salem's Lot" (1976). This movie is by far the most freakiest and most memorable vampire movie I have ever seen. The three hour movie has gruesome events happening all around the little town of Salem's Lot. The first vampire that shows up in the movie is of course the unforgettable little brother who begins scratching on the window of his older brother. The movie is not gory or full of the special effects we are all use to today, but the scare factor is definitely in there in mass amounts. If you want that feeling that someone is behind you, turn the lights down, and watch the unbelievable creepy movie "Salem's Lot".

Next is an all time favorite for many horror buffs, John Carpenter's "Halloween" has scared generations of people with Michael Myers, Dr. Loomis and Laurie Strode for years and years. The eerie sound of the music as Myers begins his gutting of the characters throughout the movie. The mask that covers the unknown face of Myers. The doctor who searches and searches to find out how to stop Myers from killing. And just the all around freak factor that lies in all of the original Halloween movies. Who could not get goosebumps when sitting down to watch this movie. Who could not wonder whether or not they themselves will wake up the next morning or be victim to such a horrendous act such as that long silver knife. All I know is that Michael Myers knows how to scare the hell out of all who come within his path.

The scene with the brother outside the window in Salem's Lot is downright terrifying!

Maybe, this doesn't count but the 1st Terminator scared the @#$%%^ out of me. Especially, when he took out his eye or was chasing the people around the factory. My dad took me to see that on release in 1984. I was 5!

The Exorcist and body snatchers...the original, kept me up all night. The book "The Shining" was better than the movie.

"Salem's Lot" scared the beejeepers out of me! The scariest me by far, though, was "Rosemary's Baby" and I was stupid enough to watch it while I was pregnant.

Fantastic list all the way 'round. I love these all but am a sucker for Salem's Lot. The special haircuts they all had back in that era make it even more interesting too. :-)
