If you will be visiting the Bury St. Edmunds area and you need a quick sit down lunch or a take away, then you may want to check out the Pizza Oven in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, England. It is a mainly Turkish run establishment that is a common sight all over the country.

Location

The Pizza Oven is located at 1A St. John's Street in Bury St. Edmunds, which is not far from the library and it is very close to the town centre. The opening hours are as follows: Monday-Thursday 11:00am-11:00pm, Friday and Saturday 11:00am-11:30pm, Sunday 3:00pm-10:00pm. The local telephone number is (01284) 756007.

Order

I visited the Pizza Oven in Bury St. Edmunds after a recent trip to the town. I ordered a veggie burger, but Pizza Oven had run out. I then asked if a mushroom burger was vegetarian, but it consisted of a hamburger with mushrooms on top. I then decided to order a baked potato with coleslaw and some water. It cost £2.50, which is a little over $5. I chose to eat in rather than take my lunch away with me. I was asked if I wanted butter, salt and pepper on my potato. I declined the butter and salt, but asked for a sprinkling of black pepper. I just had to wait a few minutes for my lunch to arrive. I sat down inside and passed the time by reading a newspaper.

Taste

When my lunch arrived, I was surprised at how well presented it was. The baked potato was large and I was given a generous helping of coleslaw over the top of the potato. The baked potato and coleslaw also came with a side salad consisting of lettuce, tomato and cucumber, which was very nice. It helped enhance the visual appeal of the baked potato and coleslaw. The taste of the baked potato, coleslaw and side salad was delicious. The potato was well cooked and the coleslaw had a slight tart taste to it, that I like, and had not tasted since leaving the UK. I also enjoyed the salad. By the time I had finished my lunch, I was full up.

Thanks for the comments. It's common to serve coleslaw on top of baked potatoes in the UK. The coleslaw is also not sweet like it is in America. Sophie

Prices aren't that bad at this place. Most of the places we went while in England were like US dollar prices, only in pounds, so of course that meant twice as much. Ouch. but this pizza place looks to be very reasonable.
