Mattel's Liddle Kiddle Dolls: Little Dolls Are a Big Collectible
Collectible Vintage Dolls of the 60's and 70's: Liddle Kiddle Dolls
Although these miniature dolls were only 2 - 3 inches tall they had charm and personality that made every little girl want them. The quality of the dolls was extremely high and can be seen especially in the eye-catching detail of the colorful outfits and hairstyles.
One of the exceptional features of the Liddle Kiddle dolls is their exquisite hairstyles. You can find Liddle Kiddle dolls with hair coloring in the average shades of blond and brunette or wild exotic colors such as bright purple, lime green or vivid scarlet red. It is not uncommon to find Liddle Kiddle dolls with tiny ribbons in their hair or flowers of fabric or plastic woven into their hair. The outfits that the Liddle Kiddle dolls wore were very well made considering their small size and that they were mass manufactured. Each miniature outfit is detailed with lace, ribbons or appliqués. Because most of the Liddle Kiddle doll's clothing was not intended to be removed it is very common to find Liddle Kiddle dolls sporting their original garments.
The very first Liddle Kiddle dolls to be manufactured did not come with a their own plastic containers. These were simply miniature dolls that had a complete line of accessories such as a sailboat, bicycle or rocking horse.
Then came the Lucky Locket Kiddle series. These were very popular little dolls. Each doll came packaged in it's own plastic bubble locket, these could be worn as a necklace on a chain or clipped to a pocket. Little girls were thrilled that their dolls could be worn as jewelry.
