Fall is a wonderful time of year. Fall has a tradition of pumpkins, gourds, hayrides, corn stalks and more. Beautiful mums of all colors fill lawns and store porches and walkways. Fall scenes go up all around town. The nice cool weather invites families to get out and experience a world of fun together.

Carving a pumpkin for Halloween can be great family fun. Many stores are full of all different sizes and shapes of pumpkins to be purchased. While heading out to Wal-Mart and choosing the perfect pumpkin may be considered a great family fun day, why not try things a little differently? Let your family experience a true fall day with true fall nature.

Pumpkin patches are wonderful for family outings. Many counties have several different pumpkin patches located throughout the towns.

At a pumpkin patch, your family can experience things that they have never experienced before. Most pumpkin patches have farm animals for children to pet and feed. They are stocked with goats, chickens, cats, cows, horses, sheep, and more. They usually also have hayrides and games. Some pumpkin patches specialize in unusual animals such s alpaches.

Your family can experience traveling through a winding corn maze and laughing at each dead end stop. Once the corn stalks have dried out, the farmers cut zig zag paths in and out of the corn field. You never know where you may end up with each path that you take.

Wagons loaded with hay can be seen pulled by tractors with load of smiling faces gently bouncing up and down the dirt paths.

Many pumpkin patches have gift shops with homemade goodies and homemade gifts.

The best part of a family visit to the pumpkin patch is the picking of the pumpkin. Pumpkin patches have many pumpkins to choose from. In most cases, families can travel right out into the field and pick their own perfect pumpkin to be carved into a great jack-o-lantern. The children will be amazed at how many pumpkins line the rows in the field. They will love running from vine to vine to pick just the perfect one. Gourds and unusual pumpkin shapes and colors can also be seen.
