Home Improvement Projects to Keep You Occupied when You Are Apart from Your Spouse - It is easy to become downhearted and to wallow in self pity if you will be spending any length of time apart from your spouse. Couples spend time apart for a number of reasons. Perhaps the husband is in the military and will be deployed for a few months. Or the wife may be visiting her relatives who live far away. Whatever the reason for the separation, rather than start counting down the days until your spouse's return the moment they leave and start feeling sorry for yourself, why not take on a few home improvement projects to keep yourself busy?

Have a Clear Out

Have you been meaning to have a proper clear out, but you have just not had the time to do so? It is easy for work and other responsibilities to crowd out good intentions that you may have. Once your spouse leaves, use the opportunity to clear out overflowing cupboards, wardrobes and other areas that need to be sorted out. Try to use the time that you would normally spend with your spouse to take have a clear out, otherwise, you run the risk of overworking yourself. When clearing out clothes, you must really be honest with yourself. If you do not see yourself wearing the polo neck shirt that your mother-in-law gave you 5 years ago, it is probably safe to assume that you will never wear it. Look out for holes, stains and general wear and tear. Such clothes should either be thrown away or reserved for housework, gardening, painting and so forth.

Yard Sale

Takeaways
  • Use your spare time to have a good clear out
  • Arrange a yard sale
