Easy to Make Last Minute Halloween Costume Ideas that Also Make a Statement

Okay, it's just two days until Halloween and you still haven't found a costume you like that you can also afford. Not to mention the fact that you hate to pour money into something you'll probably only wear once. Then there's the fact that your last visit to Party City resulted in a wasteland in which the only costumes left were pirates or Flintstones. What do you do? What DO you do? Hey, it's the 90s-I mean, it's the 00s-and the keyword of the day is DIY. Which, technically I guess isn't really a keyword, but you get my drift. It's time to get creative with what you've got. Here are some suggestions for a last minute homemade Halloween costume.

The Bill of Rights Under Pres. Bush.

Get yourself an old white sheet you don't use anymore and use a big black marker to patiently write out the first ten amendments to the U.S. Constitution. Then take your sheet outside and drive back and forth over it, preferably with very dirty tire tread, until you've marked it up pretty bad. For a sexier alteration you could then also cut out those specific parts of the Bill of Rights that Bush has done away with. Of course, this suggestion should only be taken by those with a significant lack of modesty since there won't be a whole lot left of the costume by the time you're finished.

The Democratic Congress.

This one is easy. Just get yourself some very strongly worded anti-Bush buttons and apply them to your clothing. Then buy one of those small plastic skeletons that are on sale practically everywhere during Halloween and remove the backbone. When anyone asks what your costume is simply hold up the plastic spine and say, "I'm the Democratic Party and I'm looking for my backbone, but so far all I've found is this."
