Tourist Attraction Review of the Bone Crunching Excitement at St. Augustine Alligator Farm

Giant Rats: they aren't just for breakfast anymore! In fact, for the hundreds of alligators and crocodiles at St. Augustine Alligator Farm, giant rats (called Nutria) are standard fare. The farm's staff puts on a daily feeding show where the gnarly-looking dead rats are tossed into the jaws of hungry gators. Few other Florida attractions can match this bone crunching, awe inspiring, spectacle. St. Augustine Alligator Farm is a "must visit" for anyone who has never quite outgrown the "dinosaur phase" of childhood development. All 23 of the world's crocodilian species are on display in attractive natural settings. The heavyweight of the park is Maximo, a fifteen-foot salt water crocodile from Australia. Some of the rarest animals are albino alligators from the bayous of Louisiana.

However, the Alligator Farm also has a softer side where many milder animals can be encountered. The farm is a birdwatcher's paradise. St. Augustine Alligator Farm is home to many exotic birds, Galapagos tortoises, marmosets, emus, wallabies, and parrots. A stroll through the barnyard animals exhibit area to feed the goats and ponies is always entertaining. In particular, the goats put on quite a show as they jockey for position near tourists who offer handfuls of food dispensed from the coin operated machines located throughout the park. Fortunately for toddlers and young children, the goats and ponies are safely kept on the other side of a fence so that they can eat from little hands without bowling anyone over.
