I love peanut butter and I love crunchy peanut butter so Pecan Crunch jumped out at my when I was hanging out in the cereal, health bar aisle. I've been taste testing my way through the myriad choices and I loved the Nature's Valley Sweet and Salty but I'm always game for something new I bought this box of five crunchy granola bars and tried one.

These are quite a bit different from the South Beach bars that i've become a fan of. I actually regretted getting these when I gave one the first bite. Each package has two bars, thin bars. You get six packages with two thin bars in each package. They are rather spartan, no creamy bottom coat that the South Beach DIet Bars offer. These are your "healthy" bars, crunchy, a little sweet but no frills, skinny, compact. I really didn't get a pecan taste, I tasted something more like Cinnamon. The crunch is nice but not so much as a flavor, texture contrast as the South Beach bars. The SOuth Beach bars by comparison feel like a treat, like a delectable desert, a little reward.

The Nature Valley bars aren't at all chewy, they are very, very crunchy. You can see the bits and pieces of nuts. By offering two to a package you can eat one and leave the other for another time if you're so inclined. With the South Beach bars I tend to eat half and then carry the opened package with the other half around with me until I feel like eating the rest. Regarding carrying these they would travel well, they have nothing in them that would become melted or messy. So, they would be ideal for a lunchbox if you're children take to them. They would work for plane travel, hiking or long rides in the car. THe company advertises Nature Valley bars as the energy bar nature intended. The energy to get you to the place you enjoy. THe site shows wonderful ski areas, the box shows specific golf courses.

Takeaways
  • Nature Valley is a rather spartan bar

I actually love these. Nature Valley also makes chewy bars if you don't like the crunchy ones. I know there are times when I really don't want a cruncy bar, but a chewy one instead. The chewy ones have a sweeter taste, but are still natural. Great review! :-)
