Amanda Bynes Introduces Her "Dear" Fashion Collection to Houston, Texas

Another Movie Star Turned Fashion Designer

I just returned from the West Oaks Mall, in Houston, Texas. West Oaks Mall is located in West Houston, on Highway 6 and Westheimer and while smaller than several area malls, it has the big four anchor stores of Steve and Barry's, Dillard's, Macy's, Sears, it also has the usual mall teen

scene stores of the Limited Too, Hollister, NY Divas, and Hot Topic. Today's event was an autographed event in the mall's Steve and Barry's story with Nickelodeon and screen star, Amanda Bynes. Bynes may be best known for her quirky attitude and "spunkiness" exhibited in such movies as, "What a Girl Wants," "She's the Man," and from the Nickelodeon television series, "The Amanda Show" as well as her current TV comedy, "What I Like About You," with co-star Jennie Garth.

Imagine hundreds of teenage fans all waiting in line since almost 10:00 am this morning. Imagine again all those fans finding out that Bynes was held up by 800 fans in San Antonio. Her appearance was scheduled for 2:00 this afternoon, and the hundreds of people standing in line at the store waiting patiently until after 3:15, when among a screaming crowd (the decibel level grew considerably with her appearance) the newly blonde Bynes walked into the center of the store. The crowd was good natured, and the store did a pretty good job with assisting both customers and those waiting for their autographs. Line neighbors helped each other out as some would step out of line to make purchases or to pick up some lunch. My daughters and I ate picnic style on the floor of the store, but there was no way we were going to lose our place in line. Many of the fans were disappointed that there were no photo opportunities, but thanks to a very tall husband and a zoom lens, my daughter was able to get the pictures featured with this story.
