The Girl of Steel has arrived in Smallville, Kansas, a bit later than her father, Zor-El (estranged brother of Cousin Kal-El's father Jor-el), has expected. According to the story line in the CW series Smallville, Zor-El had sent her to earth following Kal-El's ship, however she landed in water and entered suspended animation until the evil Phantom Zone Criminal known as Bizarro, an evil Kal-El, inadvertently freed her. Played by the beautiful and talented Laura Vandervoot, the part of Kara (her comic book name being Kara Zor-El, since daughter's assumed their father's full name as their surname), is amazing and full of wonder of this new planet, but still morns her home planet and does she have a secret agenda, as referred to by the crystal impeded voice of Jor-El, done wonderfully by Terrance Stamp (of Star Wars (Played Chancellor Vallorum) and Superman movies as General Zod, the evil Kryptonian military leader, who's spirit invaded the human body of Lex Luthor at the end of season 4, and whom Clark sent back to the Phantom Zone).

Now a couple seasons back a young lady who unfortunately was involved in a car accident the day of the meteor shower that brought our superhero to Kansas, and using Kryptonian technology, Jor-El kept her is suspended animation until needed to call Clark to his training and his destiny into discovering his abilities and his responsibilities. Adrianne Palicki played Kara in the episode entitled Covenant, whose real name was Lindsey Harrison, which Clark's Earth Father, Jonathan Kent (played by good old boy John Schneider) figured out with the help of Clark's friend, Chloe Sullivan. Now, the show in its seventh season (I remembered hearing early on the series would run five years; one season apiece for each year of high school and an extra season for Clark's first year of college), finally reveals Supergirl, a character introduced by DC Comics years after Superman's first appearance in the 1930s.

I think they actually planned to run the show for 7 seasons, according to the creaters anyway. But now that it's a real hit, I'm guessing they'll keep it going for another few years.
