Why do certain rich people try so hard to make sure everyone knows how much money they have? They wear designer clothes, drive fancy cars, and now, they have their own special water. Bling H2O is catering to the conspicuously wealthy everywhere. A 750 ml. bottle of water is $40, while the smaller version cost $20.

When I first heard about Bling H2O, it boggled my mind how people could just throw away their money like that. After learning more, I realized the idea is not completely ridiculous. O.K., so I won't be buying Bling H2O water any time soon. Still, the water bottles are really pretty. They are frosted glass with the word "Bling" spelled out in Swarovski crystals on the bottle. You can choose from many different color combinations. Including my personal favorite, a cobalt blue water bottle with white Swarovski crystals.

Paris Hilton buys Bling H2O for her dog. In case you want to be just like Paris Hilton, they do offer bottle designs named Paris Pink and Tinkerbell. The limited edition Paris Pink design is a 750 ml. frosted glass bottle with pink Swarovski crystals and sells for $40. The Tinkerbell baby Bling water bottle sells for $20. It looks exactly like the Paris Pink except it is only 375 ml. If you would like to buy a case of (12) 750 ml. water bottles, it will cost about $420! They claim that their water is really high quality water. I don't know if it is or not, but the water bottle looks nice. If I spent $40 for that bottle, I would probably recycle it by refilling it over and over for about a year.

Bling H2O claims to use a nine-step purification process that includes ozone, ultraviolet and microfiltration. Yet, it looks like ozone, ultraviolet and microfiltration are a standard process in making bottled water and not unique to Bling H2O. source I guess I am not completely convinced that Bling H2O water is worth $40 based on the water itself. According to information from the Federal Drug Administration, bottle water is not even necessarily better than tap water. I happen to be one of the few people left that thinks tap water is fine.

This reminds me of those sundaes with actual gold flecks in them that sell for a few thousand dollars, I think. Some people simply have more money than brain cells.

Falling for the whole bottled water business is pretty stupid. They have people afraid to drink city water which is much more highly regulated. Of course, we never hear about problems with bottled water. That is probably because it is not tested as thoroughly as tap water. If it was, I'm sure that we would hear of problems with micro-organisms and chemicals. What about the though of getting all of your water from a plastic bottle? I'm sure that there are plenty of free vinyl radicals floating around in there.

I use a Brita filter. I won't touch bottled water. It's expensive and they have found rat feces on the outsides of the bottles. It disgusts me to see how the rich throw their money away. That's not all they throw away; all that bling ends up in the garbage. Just think the good that money and all those materials could do?

Ooh, maybe they will go on clearance one day and I can just pay $20 for a bottle of water! Now that would be a reasonable price :) Great reporting.

Oh ick ick ick! I'm so thankful I live in Bangkok, Thailand and don't have to be faced with people this stupid (the people who buy water bottles with swarovski I mean). Crazy. There are people in the world dying because they cannot afford food or medicine and these idiots are wasting money on bottled water, which is damaging the planet. Yuk!

I hate bottled water. I have a well at my house, so my water tastes better than 90% of bottled water, and it's completely free.

I think the fact that Paris drinks this water would turn me off to drinking it entirely. But thanks for the interesting article!

Hmmm... It costs me $13.00 for up to 5,000 gallons of water each month. Some privileged people make me sick.

I have to hand it to the makers of 'bling water'. I used to think that whoever first came up with the idea of charging people a dollar or so for a bottle of water was smart... but to charge rich people $40 for water... now that's genius. I will be working on the next idea for getting rich off my kitchen faucet.

Tap water works for me, too! If I find it too icky tasting, I'll go buy one of those $40 water filters that'll last a LONG time!

Bling H2O in glass...hmmm... a little less Bling in plastic! Ridiculous, but still I'm amused :)

I pay for my tap water.. I was hoping to find that a certain amount of the sticker price was donated to a good cause, but as you say it appears to just be a status symbol.

I think I will stick to my $5 case of Dasani or Aquafina and save the $40 to fill up my gas tank so I can actually go to work! The bottles do look cool though...

I could see someone buying a single bottle and reusing it for the bling. But I like my tap water and my old water bottle just fine. :-)
