Indoor hydroponics gardening allows you to grow plants throughout the year and without using soil. If you are interested in this form of gardening, there are a few things you will need to know. This article will give you a few tips for indoor hydroponics gardening.Lights
Different plants require various amounts of light. There are different types of lights you can use for indoor hydroponics gardening. Plants that are in the growing stage will need more red spectrum light. Metal halide lights will provide this type of light for these plants. Plants that are fruiting or flowering will need blue spectrum light. Therefore, you should use high pressure sodium lights.
Walls
You will also need to cover your walls for indoor hydroponics gardening. The walls should be covered with reflective material such as reflective mylar or white paint. This reflective material will reflect more light onto your plants which will increase the amount of energy that they get.
Airflow
When practicing indoor hydroponics gardening, you will need to maintain a constant airflow. You can accomplish this with a few oscillating fans. You should avoid using fans that are fixed in one direction for too long. This may cause your plants to suffer windburn. It can also dry out young seedlings. You can also try using an exhaust fan that will bring in fresh air and vent hot air.
Water
Those who practice indoor hydroponics gardening may need to regulate the temperature of the water used on the plants. You should avoid using hot water drawn from the tap because the hot water pipes contain lime and calcium. These substances will shift the pH level of the water used for the plants. If you need to use hot water, you should use cold water from the tap and heat it with a heater before using it on your plants.
Feeding
There are various feeding methods you can use for indoor hydroponics gardening. Some of the most common methods include drip and wick systems. These systems will automatically provide the nutrient solution to your plants. Some gardeners who practice indoor hydroponics gardening simply provide the solution by hand watering.
