While the weather starts beginning to get chilly, the kids may need something fun to keep their hands warm when they are outside playing with all of their cousins and family on Thanksgiving. Just by buying a pair of cheap gloves and some felt, children can have created a pair of turkey gloves that can be the new style of the holiday.
Some supplies that you will need are:
A pair of knit gloves that can be any autumn color
Felt: (colors include yellow, orange, white, black, goldenrod, tan, red, and brown)
Washable fabric glue or hot glue
Scissors
Plastic Wrap.
To begin making these turkey gloves, have your children stuff the fingers with the plastic wrap so that the gloves won't stick together when you begin gluing. Using the goldenrod felt, cut 2 circles that will be for the turkey's head. With the red, yellow, and tan felt, cut three inch strips and cut points on the end of those. Then cut two heart shapes with the red felt.
Using all of these pieces you can create the turkey's head. Use the strips as feathers and put the heart below the heads for their neck or "gobbler" area. Glue all of these pieces together onto the gloves and then allow it to dry. Once your gloves are dry, the plastic can be removed, and then the children will have stylish turkey gloves to wear for the holiday! Be ready to make more when the children's friends begin asking where they got them!
If you are seeking a banner to create for Thanksgiving to hang in the kitchen area, get the family and children together to make one. Get a big roll of paper than can be rolled out across the floor. Across the banner, you can write "Happy Thanksgiving" in the center of it.
