The Oxo Good Grips Mango Splitter does not deliver what it is supposed to do. The idea of a splitter to exclusively cut the mango sounds great. But the fact is that it is poorly designed equipment. I never expected a product from Oxo to show such disastrous results. It seems as if they were in a hurry to come out with this kitchen tool. If only they had put some amount of serious thought while devising the splitter, this could have been a hit. I would not suggest this equipment and please don't waste your money on this toy.

Every one in our family loves the mango, king of fruits. But when it comes to peeling and slicing them, every one takes a back seat. I happened to see this on tube and was totally impressed at the first look itself. The way it split the mango really amazed me. This looked like some magical apparatus that could perfectly deseed the mango. It seemed as if it is the ultimate mango splitter. This being form Oxo stable, I placed the order without enquiring much about this stuff.

The Oxo Good Grips Mango Splitter is basically a white plastic bowl sort of thing with a blade positioned in the centre. This is equipped with superior grade plastic handles on each side of the bowl. To be honest the only decent feature of this equipment is the handle that is really powerful with a strong grip. This does not slip away from your hand even if the fingers are wet. The blades become blunt after few applications.

As per the instruction you are supposed to place the mango in such a way that the pit sits exactly on the blade and apply slight pressure from top to bottom. By the time mango reaches the base of the bowl it would have split in two halves, separated from the seed. I tried the same mechanism on my piece expecting the same results. Sadly it did not work out. I was disappointed and tried different sizes of mango. Then I realized that the basic flaw of this tool lied in the design and positioning of the blade.
