Working all day long, my mouth always seems to get a little rancid as the day progresses. A few years ago I had the privilege of taking along a mini travel toothbrush and toothpaste to be used after meals while on the job, it is not an option now. So, I am a breath mint junkie and am always looking for new inventions that will assist in helping my breathe smell better and mouth feel cleaner between morning and evening brushings.

While I was surfing the internet the other day I came across a new invention from Frieling USA. Although Frieling is a German company Frieling USA is located in Charlotte, North Carolina and is basically the marketing department for the United States. The product that I found on their website is the Zilopop - Stainless Steel Lollipop. The website states that by sucking on the metal lollipop for just a few minutes, the Zilopop will correct any rancidity in the mouth. The results will leave your mouth feeling "clean, fresh, crisp breath!" In addition, the Zilopop is small and easy to carry anywhere.

At the first glance, I thought the company was mocking the traditional lollipop. After some intensive research though, I found that original German website by looking on Google. The website is entirely in German, fortunately I speak German. The website describes this new and wacky product as:

"Garlic, fish, cheese, cigarettes, wine and many other benefits have unfortunately a side effect: bad breath. Fresheners like Peppermint often only last a short time and can only increase the smell. With zilopop this is no longer true. The practical zilopop eliminates smelly mouths within a short time. Simply use it like a lollipop. Within just 2 to 4 minutes the special high-grade steel will eliminate all smells in the mouth area. After use, push it back into its sleeve. Zilopop has a neutral taste and the great thing is: It never stops working and has zero calories! Zilopop comes with an inclusive key volume and a snap hook is supplied."

It really works. No metal taste in your mouth. Got used to it in 5 minutes, now addicted :)

I may look into this because I am also obsessed with gum and mints.

Fascinating! What a creative new invention. I like the name zilopop. This product sounds handy. Thanks for telling us about it. I never cared much for mints so this item would be an alternative for me. I enjoyed your article.

Strange, they are in America however I have never heard about them. Guess ya have to be from the south to hear about them. At least in NC.

Very interesting, I have never heard of this! I'm not sure that it sounds too appealing though. I think I'll stick with Listerine strips and such.

I am not quite sure that it would find a market, especially in the states, but who knows anything is possible. Great article, I had never heard of it, so that means I learned something new. ;-)

Fascinating. I don't think I could do it, though. Metal in my mouth reminds me way too much of the dentist.

hmmm ... putting stainless steel in your mouth doesn't sound like a very good idea to me; intriguing article though!

This is almost like what children did in the 80's - sucking on paperclips.
