Every Veteran's Day, the United States celebrates and acknowledges tons of veterans who served their county in numerous wars over the last century. This year, Kentucky is celebrating the day in a very unique way.

According to a recently published Kentucky.gov press release, Kentucky kids or tourist kids will have the opportunity to go through a youth "boot camp" at Barren River State Resort Park. The purpose of the boot camp is for kids to have fun while learning about veterans and what they went through.

The boot camp will happen on Saturday, November 3rd at Barren River State Resort and is available for kids ages 6 to 12 years old.

The Barren's Environmental and Recreation Staff Youth Boot Camp (also known as BEARS) is a great way for children to experience a kid-friendly and fun version of boot camp and hear from military veterans of different wars who have served our country. This event will take place just a few days before Veterans' Day.

The boot camp is a two hour session and will include fun activities such as physical training, a full obstacle course, technical skills, such as radio use and hand signals, and more. This is a completely free event for all kids and families attending.

The fun will kick off at 10:00 a.m., with registration starting at 9:30 at the resort's entertainment shelter. The participating kids will be divided into two age groups, one with kids ages 6 to 8, which requires a parent or guardian to attend, and a group for kids ages 9 to 12. All kids who plan on joining in should wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Participants will receive a certificate of completion after they finish for the day, as well as a tasty hot dog and a cold drink for lunch.

Advanced registration is available up until the day of the event. To register, contact Lisa Deavers at 1-800-325-0057 or

It's too late for me to read, but I really want to help you. I'm sure I'll come and actually read some of your articles later! Like I said, I know what it is like, and it is definitely not fun.
