We watched the eagerly anticipated debut of Drew Carey as the new host of The Price is Right. We were not disappointed with Drew's first appearance on the show. We felt that he did succeed on his first day as the new host.

The show's announcer began the show the same way he had done when Bob Barker was the host, saying, "...Live from the Bob Barker studio in Hollywood..." The studio audience warmly welcomed Drew as he was introduced and appeared on the stage, looking very handsome in his suit and tie. We had wondered if Drew would hold a corded stick microphone, like Bob Barker had held for so many years. Drew indeed held a stick microphone, but without the cord.

Drew seemed genuinely interested in the contestants joining him on the stage. We were glad to see some of the contestants hugging and kissing Drew when they joined him on the stage to have a chance to win more prizes. We noticed that Drew fussed with his left suit jacket pocket a few times during the hour-long show. Was he nervous?

Drew commented the show was the 77th perfect show. A perfect show happens when each contestant that appears on stage wins their game and takes home the displayed prize or prizes.

We were unsure if Drew would have his own cause to promote, or if he would continue with Bob's cause to help control the pet population. We were very happy, when at the end of the show, Drew reminded people to help control the pet population, just as Bob had done for so many years.

On today's episode the models were not called Barker's Beauties. Future episodes will hopefully reveal whether or not they continue with this name or get a name change.

It felt strange for us to watch The Price is Right without Bob as the host. We hope that he enjoys his retirement from the show. We realize that times change and we welcome Drew.

We believe that with time, Drew will become more comfortable in his new job as the host of The Price is Right. One needs to remember that Drew replaced a television icon, Bob Barker, who hosted the show for more then 30 years. Drew brought his own uniqueness to the show and was not trying to imitate Bob.
