You will need some items to build your Christmas Holiday Marshmallow Roast Pit. They are:
- shovel
- bricks, stones, or slate rock
- knowledge of your property
- wood to burn
- weed and grass killer
Once you have these items, getting your Christmas Holiday Marshmallow Roast Pit started begins with a bit of hard work. First, you want to decide how big you want the pit to be. For visual purposes, I would suggest that you make it about three feet in diameter. This is large enough that you will not appear to be opening up a public burn fest, and you will be able to control the pit easier.
The next thing you will do is consult your property map to find a spot that is not near any lines, or septic tanks, or water sources. You do not want this surprise. Once you are certain of the location, and that it is a safe one, begin by measuring out the pit in chalk. You want to be as precise as possible in drawing out the circumference of the pit, as it will be your reference when you start to dig. A crooked Christmas Holiday Marshmallow Roast Pit is not visually pleasing.
Next you will begin to dig out the hole. You want to dig the hole approximately two feet down, so that you will be dropping the fire a bit. This will help with wind, and getting the fire started. Dig as level as possible. This is the heart of your Christmas Holiday Marshmallow Roast Pit.
Once the hole is dug, you will want to take the weed and grass killer, and treat a one foot circle around the rim of the pit. This will save you weed eating later, and it will look much better as well.
