My Best Halloween Costume Ever: The Homemade Tin Woodsman

For many children, the best memories of Halloween are often of which costume they wear. Whether it is a costume from the store or a homemade costume, the child will often remember the costume for many years to come. Of all the
Halloween costumes I had when I was a child, my favorite was the home made Tin Woodsman costume my Mom designed for me when I was four years old.

The Tin Woodsman Halloween costume is obviously based on the classic character from the classic MGM film "The Wizard of Oz" As far back as I can remember, I have always loved that movie, and the Tin Woodsman has always been my favorite character. The best thing about the Tin Woodsman costume is that it is just as much of a classic Halloween costume as the movie itself, and can be used year after year.

The Tin Woodsman Halloween Costume is very easy to make. To make the Tin Woodsman Halloween Costume, you need a grey or silver plastic oil funnel, a sheet of silver gift wrap or tinfoil, and silver glitter face paint. You may have a little difficulty finding a grey or silver oil funnel. If you cannot find a silver oil funnel, then you can paint any standard oil funnel gray or silver.

Cut the sheet of tin foil or silver gift wrap into two sheets, one sheet for the pants of the Tin Woodsman Halloween costume and one for the shirt of the Tin Woodsman Halloween costume. The size of each piece should be cut in relation to the height of your child and to the weight of your child. Be sure to cut the pants and the shirt a size or two larger than the size of shirt and pants your child normally wears so that the child can move freely, as well as breathe easily, as he or she goes from house to house trick or treating on Halloween. When you select the type of facial paint to make the costume, be sure that you take into account any skin peculiarities your child may have before purchasing the paint. To give the paint on the costume a bright appearance for better effect, as well as for the safety of your child, use a generous amount of glitter throughout the paint of the costume.
