Well... Duh!? the Simple Life (Minus Paris and Nicole)

"Lucy, you got some splaining to do, and this time I want the truth... Well?"

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've paused the TeVo, sat down with Lucy and tried to reason with her about the way things were heading. If she would just approach the situation honestly, think through her options and choose a better course of action, she wouldn't get so mixed up in all of these crazy schemes and get into so much trouble. But, does she ever listen to me? And don't even get me started on my numerous conversations with Jack, Chrissy and Janet down at the Regal Beagle. There's a much more effective way to handle Mr. Furley and the Ropers if you'd just stop and look at what you're doing for a minute and... what's that? Oh, excuse me for a moment. I think my mirror is giving me a dirty look.

Life is simple. Seriously complex, but it's not complicated. I am very happy to report that all of the natural laws like gravity, cause and effect, karma and the injunction from wearing white after Labor Day, have all been fairly consistent and predictable lately, and they don't appear to be in danger of being repealed anytime soon. (Well, at least not with the members of the current Supreme Court - we might need to keep an eye on that) So, knowing what we know about how our universe works, and with this information readily available and apparent to all of us, you'd think our lives would be a constant flow of satisfying accomplishments, happy relationships and a serene balance. After all, even way back in ancient Greece, Plato said that if we knew enough truth about anything, we would always choose the right course of action. That seems to have a smug, Vulcan-like logic about it. And, looking around at our world, he must have been right. No wars, ecological balance, everyone eating right and exercising everyday. Yes, I was being sarcastic. What of it? In Plato's defense, he didn't have Lucy re-runs.
