Lynne Cheney appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart this past week, and despite the stigma currently in this nation against Republicans, especially her husband, Vice-President Dick Cheney (I can understand why some people compare him to the Devil but I'm sure in Lincoln's time there were people who thought he was the Great White Satan), despite all of this stuff out there Mrs. Cheney was witty, intelligent, and would make a wonderful First Lady if her husband were ever to decidee to run for the Big Job.

Lynne Cheney was Stewart's guest to promote her new book "Blue Skies, No Fences: A Memoir of Childhood and Family", which Stewart gave his usual verbiage about reading the book and how he enjoyed it, but he quickly tried to put Mrs. Cheney on the spot about not her husband of over forty years, the Vice-President, but about the policies of the Republic party or even President George W. Bush. Normally, I think Jon Stewart is very funny, but this was just out of line. Who does he think he is? A Dan Rather, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, or Edward Murrow, I knew some of these people and you, Mr. Stewart are no Dan Rather, however you were great in "Half Baked" and "Death to Smootchie", heck with the critics, I thought they were great. Mrs. Cheney's book became available for sale on October 9th, 2007 and runs around seventeen to twenty-six dollars for the hardcover novel.

I believe Lynne Cheney deserved more respect, as the 6th Chair of The National Endowment for the Humanities from 1986 to 1993m Mrs. Cheney has written, and spoke publicly, about history and the importance of history, which lead her to publishing in several magazines , including articles on the women's movement to get the vote, the who suffrage thing (I thank School House Rock for teaching me about that because the public school systems never did), and how Americans celebrated their centennial in 1876, in fact she has written ten books. The latest tells of their lives of her, her family (her father, Wayne Vincent, who was an enginnerand Edna Lybyer, who was a deputy sheriff), meeting Dick and growing up in Wyoming.

Jon Stewart should run for president. A Stewart/Colbert ticket could win!
