Did you know that you can actually practice to become a video game tester? No? Well, you're in the same boat as many other gamers. The truth is that most gamers don't know that it's possible to test video games without being a paid video game tester. In order to practice, all you need to do is get your hands on a few games and a console to play them on; preferably a next-gen console.

"Alright, I got everything I need. Now What?" Basically, you just start playing. However, instead of playing the game for sheer enjoyment, you have to play the game from the perspective of a professional video game tester. A game tester views a testing assignment as a job. A task in which a game developer pays him to do, nothing more and nothing less. Admittedly, it may be somewhat difficult to get into this mindset the first couple of times, especially considering the fact that you have to pretend you're being paid. Hopefully though, you won't have to pretend for long.

Once you get into the "this is a job, not play-time" mindset, the act of testing becomes much easier. Does this mean you can't have any fun while you test games? Not at all. It simply means you have have to prioritize work over fun when you're being paid to test video games. Anyways...once you get into the right mindset, it will be time for you to get into "test" mode.

What is test mode? Well, it is basically a state that you'll enter into when you begin testing video games. The best way to describe it is relaxation. You have to relax and allow yourself to take in the entire screen. If you can do that before beginning your testing session, you should be able to spot more bugs and glitches while playing. It may sound a bit weird, but it actually works.
