Country songstress and former American Idol winner Carrie Underwood is back with her much anticipated sophomore album 'Carnival Ride.' Underwood has described the album title by saying: "You step onto this ride called life, and it's a crazy thing you don't know anything about, but you get on it anyway. You do what you can to lean different directions to try and get it to do where you want it to go, but you can't stop it- it just keeps moving. That's why Carnival Ride works as my album title, because it describes the wonderful craziness that I've been through over the past couple years."

Her first single "So Small" proves that Carrie still has it. The pop-country track is turning out to be a huge hit for Underwood. Miss Underwood herself wrote the catchy song. Underwood also cover's Randy Travis' 1988 classic "I Told You So." Underwood pulls off something that many singers can't, her version is at the same level as the original.

Then there's the song that I like to call "Before He Cheats Part two," because when the song first started playing, the beat in the beginning was similar to the beats in her hit song. "Last Name" is a catchy song about meeting a guy and dancing with him in a club and not knowing his last name. When Underwood sings, "It started off "hey cutie, where you from?"/ Then it turned into "Oh No! What have I done?" and I don't even know his last name, you can't help but wonder if this song was something that Underwood herself has experience. After all, Underwood is known for her good girl image.

Other stand out songs includes: "I Know You Won't," "Flat On The Floor," and "Just A Dream."

'Carnival Ride' is a strong album and is better than her debut album 'Some Hearts.' Underwood won't be experiences the dreaded sophomore slump with this album. Pick up the album when it hits stores on October 23, 2007.
