The Houston Thanksgiving Day parade this year should be another grand event ! This colorful parade has become a tradition for Houston and the area since 1949. This is the 58th installment of this parade. For spectators, it will run through the streets and wind past the scenic points of Houston starting at Minute Maid Park at the intersection of Hamilton and Texas streets. It will eventually end up at Crawford Street after going South on Texas, then Dallas, on to La Branch, east to Rusk, and finally to Crawford street.

This popular parade is expected to attract around 400,000 or more participants. Six unique, highly elaborate animated floats will be featured this year. The floats will have live entertainment, with costumed participants, and special effects. Huge, brightly colored helium balloons will be flying high in the sky again this year for the kids and the young at heart. The bands, the clowns, the dancers and cheerleaders will all be applying their talent to celebrate this wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

All the major Houston television stations broadcast this parade event live from the street last year. This year is not expected to be any different with the TV and news papers all giving coverage to this great event. CBS affiliate KHOU ( TV ) will cover the parade and give an extra 16 million or more people a chance to see what a good Thanksgiving Day parade is about.
