Everyone gets depressed from time to time. With all the World problems such as War, Terrorism, Global Warming and Cost of Health Care to name a few. These issues are enough to make anyone feel down in the dumps. Then we all have those personal problems with Family, Friends, Children, Job, the list goes on and on. But, when these feelings become overwhelming and you don't see how you are going to make it through, you are probably suffering from Clinical depression.

If you are feeling this way, you need to go to a professional and get diagnosed. If you are diagnosed with Clinical depression, there are some very good medications your Doctor can prescribe. However, my philosophy is to first try natural remedies and take medication as a last resort. It is usually a combination of medication and natural remedies that works best.

The first thing I suggest is to make yourself take some constructive action. When you are in the grip of depression, it is extremely difficult to make yourself do anything constructive. Some people eat to feel better. This is never a good idea because you will tend to eat too much and the result of that action will contribute to your depression. Others will try something to escape from their problems such as sleeping, alcohol or drugs. These actions can be devastating.

Here are some things you can do to help you feel better: Listen to your favorite music. Music will lift your spirits. Watch a good comedy movie or something that will make you laugh, after all laughter is the best medicine. Get outdoors and do something you enjoy in the fresh air. Go for a walk, shoot some hoops, jog or whatever you choose to do. The point is to get some exercise.

That is one of the best ways to help you feel better. Even chores around the house will help you feel a sense of accomplishment and you will feel better. Do something to help someone else less fortunate. That will help you to see that your situation may not be as bad as you feel it is. Talk to someone such as a councilor, minister or a good friend that is easy for you to talk to about your feelings.

Takeaways
  • If you can lift yourself out of your depression without medication or a small
  • amout of medication, you will be much better off.
