A Must See Authentic Haunted House in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin

Come visit for yourself what is considered to be a truly authentic haunted house. With its eight sided Orson Fowler designed architecture, the Octagon House was built back in 1856. It is considered to be the only house left in existence today sporting the Orson Fowler design.

This Octagon House features 12 rooms, 9 secret passageways, and an underground tunnel. More exciting is the fact that this house served as a northern 'safe house' during the Civil War and was therefore used to hide runaway slaves. In fact there is still a hand scratched message on the wall that a slave had left while hiding there.

If you are skeptical about this house actually being haunted, it is worth noting that over the past few years the Octagon House has gained national recognition. Thus far, Ripleys Believe It or Not as well as the History Channel has featured this house. Ripleys Believe It or Not left the house claiming it as a 'believe.' Or in other terms, they 'believed' that the house truly is haunted. The History Channel has filmed the Octagon House on a "Secret Passages" episode.
