What is the Best Job I Ever Had? Butcher, Baker or Candlestick Maker?

"Jack of all trades" and master of a few of them is how I would describe my career path. I have had so many positions in so many different fields that my resume has to be fine tuned to suit whatever position that I am applying for. Professionally, I have been in retail, healthcare, the legal profession, and education. I have held all these positions: sales clerk, gift wrapper, display manager, waitress, phlebotomist, medical assistant, receptionist (in a variety of fields), paralegal, preschool teacher, daycare administrator, cook, substitute teacher, administrative assistant, program assistant, web designer, student advisor, admission counselor (university), budget manager, humans resources assistant, web designer . . . you get the picture. Currently I am a freelance writer, and just so I can stay creatively challenged visually I am also doing graphic design work (brochures, flyers, newsletters, web design). Just about the only thing I have not done is exotic dancing and phone sex operator. At least with all of this experience I should have plenty of topics to write about.

During each of my transitions into a new field or positions there is always the excitement of a new challenge, new people to meet, new social and professional activities and organizations as well as new educational opportunities. However, if you are someone like me, once those challenges are met, it is time to move on and meet more of them straight on.

What has been the best job I have ever had? It has taken me twenty years and a great deal of education to reach the point where I am today to realize that for me, the best job I have ever had is not the one that pays the most, it's not the one with the best title and it's not the one that impresses everyone. But, there is one thing that makes it the best job I have ever had - it makes me happy.

Art class for my daughters and me. I get to be creative at work, can you say the same?

Thank you for presenting a great article that celebrates stay-at-home moms, working at home moms, and working moms. It IS important to find what it is YOU love to do and that is different for everyone. Great job.
