Does anyone remember New Orleans and the surrounding areas along the Gulf Coast? You know, that huge area of land that was crippled by Hurricane Katrina back in 2005? Can you remember back that far, or are you just infatuated by the latest Britney Spears saga or, gasp, the New England Patriots possibly spying on the New York Jets in a professional football game? Well, in case you've forgotten all about New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, and the millions of people affected by Hurricane Katrina, please bear with me here as we try to think back about the gross negligence set forth by the Bush Administration two years ago, and the negligence we still see until this very day. When we think about who has actually gone back to New Orleans, the latest estimates put the current population of New Orleans at about sixty percent of what it was before Hurricane Katrina, so we're talking about a sizeable portion of a U.S. city that has not returned home. This isn't a problem though, right? I mean, New Orleans was a crime-infested, disaster prone area to begin with, so people should use this as an opportunity to leave!

Did You Know?
Hurricane Katrina is estimated to have been responsible for $81.2 billion (2005 U.S. dollars) in damage, making it the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history.
