Is Corregidor Island in the Philippines, Haunted?
If a person says that a place is haunted, this will usually mean that this particular place that they are speaking of is where a ghost (or possibly more than one) regularly spends time at. One site that is said to be haunted is Corregidor Island in the Philippines where many people perished during World War II.
It is said that there is paranormal activity within the hospital ruins on Corregidor Island. This hospital at the time housed many military men who were wounded and were eventually killed in battle. These ruins were destroyed during World War II. People have claimed to hear footsteps as well as strange sounds coming from the hospital. One can locate the hospital ruins on what they call the Middleside of Corregidor Island.
Still others have heard odd noises that people have heard on the island coming from the old bunkers that were left behind from World War II.
It is also said that Malinta Tunnel is a site of a haunting where one can hear peculiar sounds and feel that someone is there that they cannot see. This could be due in part to the fact that many Americans as well as Filipinos died during the war while fighting the Japanese. For a time, soldiers were being housed at the Army Hospital on the island but eventually these soldiers were moved to Malinta Tunnel.
It not only accommodated the wounded but it would be the site of where General Douglas MacArthur along with the USAFFE (United States Armed Forces in the Far East) would congregate. One can locate Malinta Tunnel on Corregidor Island on the Bottomside to the east.
One of the more common ghosts that has appeared to several people on the island, is a striking nurse with red hair wearing a uniform from the Red Cross. She seems to be stuck in time attending to the wounded soldiers on the island.
