Beyond text messaging lingo and computer abbreviations lurks a popular and ever changing slang language among teens that many adults will never manage to grasp. In an effort to bring awareness and some level of understanding concerning popular slang among teens, I have touched on a few key terms learned from a bit of accidental discovery, street drugs.org, and the online Urban Dictionary.

According to my daughter and fellow teens, the new "in" slang phrase is Trannie.

Trannie or Tranzie refers to someone who is a transgendered or a transvestite type. In addition, a woman who looks man like or has man shoulders or hands. It can be a derogatory term that refers to someone that does not fit into the popular group or someone who is perceived as being very odd as well.

Pron is the same thing as porn. This creative tactic with misspelling is intended to hide from parents that teens are searching for porn on the family computer. Slang related terms for porn and sexual acts are in abundance. A beginning list may include, cheddies, barred, yuri, hentai, and yaoi. These all have similar meanings and relate to porn or pornography in some form.

Fapping is a term used as a slang name for male masturbation. I stumbled upon this slang phrase while I worked as a search assistant at ChaCha.com. I had a teen prankster who requested help because he could not stop "fapping". He wanted me to provide sites that might aid him in his request. Completely lost, I quickly looked fapping up in the Urban Dictionary. The Urban Dictionary is a wonderful place to get slang meanings of a word through the eyes of todays teens.

Tramp Stamp refers to a tattoo that has grown popular among many young women and teens. It is located just above the blue jean line on the lower back. According to the online Urban Dictionary, if someone has a tramp stamp, they are generally perceived to be promiscuous and have very demeaning labels attached to them because of this.

On a more serious note, Skittles may not be the candy your teens are buying at the local market.

Pron isn't much of a creative disguise if you ask me. Skittles is now drug slang huh? If the kids are going to cough medicine for a drug high, then it is unlikely that they will be "tasting a rainbow." Don't think I heard any of this in "Juno," that's for sure. Thanks for the article.
