Brad Bethune does not allow himself to enter a strip club, drink alcohol, or think of women as objects any longer. Bethune, Plano senior, experienced a change. About six months ago, he became a different person. This young man says he found God.

Bethune said he used to use women for sex. "I never thought of girls as people," he said. "They were objects."

Bethune also drank, going to bars at least once a week, if not two or three times, depending on if he found friends to go with him. He would drink a 12-pack of beer first, then go drink more at the bar. He also visited strip clubs about once a month, spending between $150 and $200 per visit. "I was fortunate enough to not get into drugs or tobacco," he said.

Bethune said he believes he was trying to fill a void in his life with something other than God, when that void should have been filled by a spiritual life.

"Girls have been accused of it being sex," Bethune said, referring to the void people have in their lives before finding God. "Guys have been accused of it being mistreating girls for sex."

He said the void could be replaced with various things, such as sports, the Internet or even simple distractions. "It could be something as simple as reading a book and keeping yourself absorbed in that book," he said.

"I hadn't realized it, but I was searching as a lot of people do right before they come to Christ. They're always searching," he said.

Bethune really saw God working in his life a couple of years ago when he was laid off from his job as a sales order coordinator.

One of his jobs during this turbulent time was selling cars. "That was a mistake," he said. Bethune said he discovered he had to not tell the truth to sell a car. "You practically have to lie to your mother to sell a car," he explained. He said he felt like it was not worth the effort.

Bethune would spend ten to twelve hours working with one customer, and then he would see nothing for it.

"There was a goal there, but no job satisfaction," he said.

Well written. The only thing that is certain in this life is change. Change happens everyday so we can either embrace or resist it. The difficult thing is when you change for the better people only want to see you for the person you once were. Thanks for sharing.
