Did You Get Rockies World Series Tickets?
As I sit here writing this article, I'm also waiting the re- opening of ticket sales on the Colorado Rockies web site. My plan not too unusual from the other millions of people across the country wanting to purchase Rockies tickets to the World Series.
Evidently all have plenty of time to complete my article, the official statement from the Colorado Rockies web site is as follows "Rockies World Series Ticket On sale:
This morning the Rockies' ticketing provider Paciolan experienced a system wide outage that is impacting all of their North American customers. They are working hard to resume service as soon as possible and apologize to their customers and all fans for this impact".
According to news reports, only a few hundred of the potential 60,000 tickets available have been purchased online. So I sit here and wait.
Readers should be made aware that in the state of Colorado is not illegal to scalp tickets for a profit. As far as I can tell the only laws regarding the resale of any type of event ticket is a city ordinance in Denver which forbids the sale of tickets directly in front of the venue.
Scalping web sites like stubhub.com already have some tickets that originally sold for $250 listed for between $5000 and $7,000. At 30 times your investment, that's not a bad day's profit.
The real question now is whether or not the system will be up and running in time to sell the tickets before the series begins. There are numerous fans that are extremely upset about the fact that they were not able to stand in line and buy tickets in person at Coors Field. At this juncture it could be argued that the old system may have been more effective than this newly initiated online program.
One of the concerns that baseball fans had was an invasion by professional scalpers with software designed to infiltrate online systems like Ticketmaster's and the system being utilized by the Colorado Rockies organization. A company called RGM technologies sell software to vendors for the purpose of infiltrating and overtaking online ticket sales systems in order to corner the market.
