Tickets to see the Colorado Rockies historic first ever World Series has caused frustration for thousands of fans. It probably caused heartburn (and worse) for Paciolan, the company that was handling the online ticket sales. The sheer volume of people trying to buy tickets to the Colorado Rockies - Boston Red Sox game crashed Paciolan's computers across much of North America.

By 12:29 p.m, a spokesman for the Colorado Rockies announced that they were halting ticket sales indefinitely. There were over 8.5 million hits to the ticket sales web site within the first 90 minutes of ticket sales! No one could have anticipated that type of response.

They will resume ticket sales - but no one will say "when." The computer system was so overwhelmed that only a few hundred tickets were actually sold, and will be honored. The Colorado Rockies say that there are still thousands of tickets left for sale.

When will the tickets be sold again? Where? Will they sell tickets online? Or will they sell them in person, at Coors Field, where the Colorado Rockies play baseball?

The fiasco only caused ticket prices to go up, w-a-y up, at ticket brokers. Just a few days ago, Colorado Rockie Rockpile tickets were selling in the $400 range. Those tickets are now approaching $1,000 each. The face value of Rockpile tickets is only $65, and during the regular season, these cheap seats sell for a paltry $5.

Like millions of other people, I spent my morning glued to my computer, loading, reloading, refreshing, and cursing, at the Colorado Rockies web site that was selling tickets.

You might think I'm crazy for joining the thousands of people in the hunt for tickets. If you've never been to a World Series Game, it's the experience of a lifetime.

The only other time I've been to a World Series is when the Detroit Tigers played the St. Louis Cardinals back in 1968. I was just a kid, but it meant the world to me - and I still have the program I bought at the game that day.

The view from the Rockpile. Would you pay $1,000, or more, to sit here for the World Series?

It's only day 2, strike 2, but I'm out :( Like thousands of other Rockies hopfuls, I struck out and didn't get tickets to the World Series in person. Not to fear, the TV is near :) Here's to a winning season!

Colorado Rockies Baseball Club claims that a malicious attack crashed the computer system responsible for selling tickets online. Do you buy it? Literally thousands of fans swamped the site -- all at 10am! They're going to try again. Tickets will be sold online, Tuesday, Oct. 23 at noon.
