How to Effectively Release Anger to Stop Depression

The doctors' offices are filled with men and women that suffer from clinical depression. The treatment of depression is a lucrative one. Do the doctors and pharmacists really want you to be cured? If you were really cured from depression, this would cut out a
major source of income. My former doctor told me his patients that he treated for depression paid for the new carpeting in his home one year. The bottom line is that medications are not the cure.

When I took medications they kept me from feeling my emotions. They didn't stop me from being depressed; they just stopped me from feeling. I believe the creator formed us with the ability to heal ourselves of much that goes wrong with us. We all have the ability to channel our emotions in a healthy way, if we know how to do it. Many express themselves through their hobbies, and others serve others in some way. I believe you have to do something, to vent and express your emotions.

So many of us are either depressed or have been depressed, just because we don't know how to vent our anger. Depression is said to be anger turned inwards. In effect, we don't express our anger in the appropriate way. We often take criticism and put downs and swallow them. If someone stirs my anger, others may never know it. That is a common flaw that many of us share, and as a result the anger turns in on us and we get depressed. However, we don't have to accept this way of life. Everything starts with the brain. I am a firm believer that our brains get wired by our inner thoughts. It may take time to undo the damage we have done to ourselves through our own thought-life, but I believe it can be done.

Excellent article as always! I did an article a couple months back (maybe longer) about using your negative to create a positive force. I believe you are doing that in sharing this story in order to help other people. Good for you and I'm glad that you two got to talk it out like that. :-)

Excellent article! Too often we hang on to hurt feelings or resentment and just let it fester inside. Glad to hear you have finally been able to move on from a painful childhood.

Charlene, you did it again---another fantastic article. I learned something new. I didn't know that depression is caused by anger turned in.
