We all have food cans, or at least some neighbors we can borrow some from. So, break out those empty food cans and have a little fun making these simple and budget Christmas centerpieces.

Food Can Planters

You can us simple and empty food cans to make cute little metal planters for all kinds of cool Christmas plants. One of my favorite Christmas plants is the Christmas cactus. You can buy small Christmas cacti at the grocery store for about $4 a pop.

Fill the bottom of your painted food cans with a little sand, now slip the small cactus into the little metal can. If you paint yoru cans in all red, then make about five of these you can lien them up as a centerpiece down the middle of a long table.

Snowman Centerpiece

I wrote an article about a year ago fro AC on how to make a Snowman out of empty food cans, so here is the link. This is an easy craft for adults or kids can makes an awesome centerpiece on any table in your home!

Luminaries Buckets

One of my favorite Christmas centerpiece ideas uses candles. You can use red and green ribbon that has wire built into the edges to make handles for little luminary buckets made form empty food cans.

Use nails or poke holes thorough the sides of the cans. Now, spray paint the can in any Christmas color you want.

Now, cup a length of wire in ribbon and glue each end inside of the food cans like a handle on a bucket.

The wire in the handle will allow it to stay in that handle shape. Now, drop a small tea candle inside and you are finished! By the way, this idea look great with the Christmas Cactus centerpiece.

Decoupaged Vase

Another fun option for transforming plain old food cans into great centerpiece or vases for your Christmas dinner table is to use decoupage. You can decoupage tissue paper in a myriad of colors onto the tin can! Add some water, cut flowers, and you are finished!

If you want to save some money, then cut a piece of floral foam into the food can. Use one cut flower, like an amaryllis in the center of the floral foam. Add a little water and then top this off with some stones! Small pine cones also look great or even dried moss.

I truly love the idea of reusing food cans for decorating. Recycling and saving money at the same time. Thanks!
