Crested Butte Mountain Ski Resort's 10 Best Trails

For the avid skier or snowboarder, Crested Butte Mountain Resort ,located in the southwest region of Colorado is the perfect winter vacation. In the Gunnison National Forest , along the Elk Mountain Range of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the resort offers both closeness to civilization in the Town of Crested Butte, and rugged adventure filled trails throughout the mountain.

With 121 total trails at Crested Butte Mountain, 23% beginner, 57% intermediate, and 20% are more advanced and setup for the experts. Of the 121 magnificent, available trails, there are 10 that stand out as the best.

In the beginner's field, the top 3 are:

1. Yellow Brick Road Trail- This easy trail is at the top of the beginner's area. It offers both ease and excitement for the novice skier. You can maneuver through the trail without fear of extreme conditions. The slight slope of this trail offers distance and then as you work your way down the mountain, you have the chance to hone your skills on a more downward slope. You can join the Aspen Park Road to continue down to JIB Park at the bottom of the hill. All designed with the beginner skier or snowboarder in mind.

2. Bubba's Short Cut- This is another beginner's trail that offers basic challenges, yet gives you confidence building opportunities along the way. As Bubba's Short Cut winds around and starts down the mountain, you join either Peanut Trail or the Roller Coaster Trail. Both of these offer continued beginner fun, as you work your way down the mountain.

3.Poverty Gulch Trail-This is the easiest of all of the trails at Crested Butte. It starts at a lower elevation and joins the Houston trail. The slope of the hills here offer safe and easy skiing for even the most inexperienced skiers.
