Welcome to Liberty, Missouri! I have appreciated the small, but progressive city of Liberty, Missouri, for some time. But just this year, I had the opportunity to move to Liberty and begin a new life there with my family.

Let me begin by saying that one of the biggest selling points of Liberty is the fact that it has the near-perfect mix of small-town Americana and big city progressiveness and convenience. You can still visit the town square with it's historic architecture and quaint shops and restaurants. The "Historic Liberty Jail" is just a block north of the square and is an interesting visit. One of my favorite haunts it the "By the Book" bookstore and coffee shop. I love to sit down in one of their comfortable over-stuffed chairs with a cafe mocha and read the newspaper. "By the Book" is located on the west side of the town square.

Liberty is known for it's community involvement and support of local events. If you plan on attending a sporting event at William Jewell College or one of the local high schools be sure to arrive early because the whole town loves to show up and cheer for the home team. It's really always quite an event and the atmosphere is almost electric with excitement. The whole town of Liberty seems to be big supporters of their home town college.

Liberty just held it's annual Fall Festival which ran from Friday through Sunday in early September. The attendance was overwhelming and the attractions included the parade, concerts and a large carnival. Civil War re-enactments took place right out in the middle of the street!

But if it's the conveniences and amenities of a larger town that suites you, just travel west on Kansas street and you will find Restaurant and movie choices that should please most. Not to mention that Liberty, MO is located just minutes from the World's of Fun Theme park and historic downtown Kansas City. Liberty is also a growing town in progress. You will find new small businesses popping up all around and also your favorite chain restaurants moving in just around the corner. A little bit of old and new in Liberty.
