On the Internet, it is pretty old news that Albus Dumbledore was a homosexual. It has spread like wildfire. It will bring questions of what different religions and different Christian denominations will now say about the books. After all, some denominations already banned or condemned the books from the beginning simply because of taking place in both the wizarding and mortal worlds. Wizardry was not considered part of Christianity and some Christians could not grasp the idea of works of fiction.

However, there is more amazing news. The entire Harry Potter series was inspired by Christianity. There were already some denominations and congregations that used the Harry Potter series in Sunday School, Bible studies, and other Christian education programs.

Some Christians have always suspected religious themes running through the books. Many times this started with the close friendship between Hermione, Ron, and Harry.

Rowling affirmed that the books dealt with her struggle with faith. She also said that she did not want to reveal this fact because she did not want fans to assume where the books were going.

The themes of eternal life and life after death are obvious in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. However, she did not want to mention this until the last book. She has now stated, "To me, the religious parallels have always been obvious, but I never wanted to talk too openly about it because I thought it might show people who just wanted the story where we were going."

Rowling answered this question while speaking in America. The United Kingdom's Telegraph picked up the story.

When it comes to the themes of life after death and resurrection, the Telegraph reported, "at the end of her latest and final installment in the series, there are specific references to Christianity and themes of life after death and resurrection. At one point Harry visits his parents' graves and finds two biblical passages inscribed on their tombstones."

I'm a Christian who loves Harry Potter. I always thought there were Christian themes . . . many of the people opposed to the series have never read the books. (I understand the stance against witchcraft, but it's such fantasy in my mind . . . not the real thing.)
