You're Never Too Young (or Too Old!) to Visit Walt Disney World !!

Walt Disney World is a magical place.....whether you are 1 or 100. When my husband and I took our first trip to Disney World, we were on our honeymoon. The trip was filled with adventurous rides, seeing great shows, and stopping to eat as we refueled to keep up with our hectic pace. Just four years later, we decided to take our son, who was 2 at the time, on his first trip to Disney World. When friends and family (and even some strangers) found out where we were going, we were met with disapproving looks, and the advice seemed to be the same....that my son was too young for Disney World. "What a waste!", they told us; "He'll never remember any of it!" Thankfully, we didn't let the negative opinions influence us, and we forged ahead with our plans.

We had an AMAZING time! My son, who was in the midst of his "terrible twos" at the time, did not cry a single time while we were on vacation. He was ecstatic to meet the characters and get pictures with them, and seeing his little face light up at every exciting thing he saw made me cry more than once. It is something about that look of wonder and amazement on my childs face, and knowing that we had a part in giving that moment to him- it made the entire trip worthwhile.

That is not to say that planning a trip with little ones is a walk in the park (excuse the pun.) There was a lot of planning that went into our trip, from picking out the hotel that we thought he would like best, to finding the restaurants that had more "kid-friendly" atmospheres. We had a tentative plan for things that we wanted to experience, but we let my son determine how much we did (or didn't do) each day, and we made sure to stop and take rests frequently to keep everyone happy.

As for him not remembering anything about our trip- to be honest, I wouldn't care if he didn't remember a single thing. He was excited in the moment while he was there, and we have hundreds of photos to prove it. The thing, he does remember quite a bit, and often talks about certain characters and "magical moments" that we had while we there, and that was now two years ago. I made a small scrapbook with photos of him with the characters, and it is still one of his prized possessions.
