Have you ever browsed through the directory of yahoo groups and noticed so many have only 5 members and no ones spoken in about 8 months? Perhaps you want to start a yahoo group and are afraid of being stuck in that same rut. Maybe you have a group right now, but you don't know how to get more people involved. To fix this problem is quite simple, but may take time, depending on your group.

If you haven't done so already, you'll need to create your yahoo group before you can increase your number of members. Why is this? Simply because with out a group you can't have members. If you seriously needed me to answer that, then you may want to rethink starting a group.

Once you have your group started, it's time to round up the members. First look at the location your group is for. Is it a localized group? Something for people only in your area only? Is it a group for people anywhere in the US? How about in the world?

Next you need to look at the type of group you have. Is it for those in sports? Certain hobbies? Religion? Whatever the group is for, you need to make a mental note of that before continuing.

Once you know this information, you are ready to gather up some members. Start by making your group public in the yahoo directory so that other yahoo members can find you. Then it's time to expand your advertising. Put a link in any profiles you have online so that when others visit your profile, they'll see a link to your yahoo group.

Another idea that will really get peoples attention is to put a link to your yahoo group in forums around the net.

Don't sign up for a website just to post a link though. You need to stick with the forums you normally go to. A good example is AC. Is this a yahoo group for writers? Post a link on the AC forums.
